Z39.50 프로토콜의 설명기능과 스캔서비스 제공을 위한 Zclient 구현 = A Zclient Implementation for Providing Explain Facility and Scan Service of Z39.50 Protocol

국문 초록 (Abstract)

디지털도서관은 각각의 도서관들을 컴퓨터 망으로 연결하여 사용자가 한 장소에서 여러 도서관의 자료를 검색하고 받아 볼 수 있도록 해주는 개념이다. 이러한 디지털도서관의 개념과 더불어 등장한 것이 미국의 정보 검색 국가 표준인 Z39.50 프로토콜이다. 이 프로토콜은 여러 언어와 형식(form)들 사이에 호환성을 제공해 주는 것으로써 클라이언트 측의 문법을 측간문법(inter-site syntax)으로 변환한 뒤, 궁극적으로 하나이상의 서버 측의 문법으로 변화하여 사용자가 지역적 또는 원격 검색을 수행할 때 한가지 검색인어와 사용자 인터페이스를 사용할 수 있도록 해준다.
본 논문에서는 1995년 공인된 Z39.50 프로토콜 버전 3에 새로이 추가된 4가지 서비스 중 설명(Explain)기능과 스캔(Scan)서비스를 구현하여 이를 기반으로 사용자가 자신이 접속한 서버에 관련된 정보를 미리 알고 있지 않아도 클라이언가 서버에 관련된 자세한 사항을 알 수 있도록 해주고 또한 사용자가 서버에서 관리되고 있는 데이타베이스의 내용을 훑어 볼 수 있도록 하여 검색 효율을 높일 수 있도록 하는 Z39.50 클라이언트를 구현하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Digital library is the idea that users can search and retrieve the resources of libraries based on connecting to libraries by using computer network. Information search and retrieval standard protocol of USA taking with the idea of digital library is Z39.50 protocol. It is concerned with compatibility in languages and formats. This protocol translates the syntax of the client site into an inter-site syntax and ultimately into the syntax of one or more server sites, providing users with the possibility of using one search language and interface for both local and remote searches.
This paper implements the services of Z39.50 protocol version 3 approved in 1995. Especially, Explain facility and Scan service of the 4 new services in version 3 were implemented Based on the above implementation, an efficient and convenient Z39.50 client was developed that users could obtain details of the implementation of a target and could scan an ordered term list of databases managed by the target.
