      The purpose of this research was to develop the self-esteem of 5th-grade children of an elementary school. To achieve this purpose, the research questions were established as follows was the emotion-development program enhanced in the area of scholastic competence, social acceptance, athletic competence, physical appearance, behavioral conduct and global self-worth among subordinate areas of the self-esteem test? In other to verify the effects of the experiment, 5th grade children- 30 out of 36 children-in a class of an elementary school was selected as a subject of the experiment in Kimje, Chonbuk Province. After dividing into experimental group and the control group, the self-esteem test was given as a pretest. As a result, there were not significant differences between the experimental group and the control group. the experimental program was verified appropriate content by a major professor as a program of children`s emotion-development. After school, I adopted children`s emotion-development program to the experimental group over total 20 times(ltime each 40minutes) throughout the course of 10 weeks. By the way, the control group didn`t have any adoption as a comparison group against experimental group. After the experimental treatment, the self-esteem test was given. The result of the self-esteem test was administered by comparing each average(between pretest and posttest) by the t-test. The findings of this study were as follows the experimental group showed a significant differences between pretest and posttest in the area of behavioral conduct and global self-worth among subordinate areas of the self-esteem test but showed no significant difference between pretest and posttest in the areas of scholastic competence, social acceptance, athletic competence and physical appearance.
