This study aimed to identify the effect of balance and plyometric trainings on landing pattern and jump performance for elite female adolescent volleyball players. A total of 24 adolescent volleyball players enrolled in the Korea Volleyball Association were participated in this study, and they divided into three groups; balance training group (BAL, n=8), plyometric training group (PLY, n=8), and control group (CON, n=8). The knee valgus angle in frontal plane and the flexion angles of lower extremities in sagittal plane were collected at the peak knee flexion during landing in counter movement jump. Also, the muscle activity of vastus lateralis muscle (VL), vastus medialis muscle(VM), biceps femoris muscle(BF), and semitendinosus muscle(ST) were measured during landing, and the hamstring muscle/quadriceps femoris muscle ratio (H/Q ratio) was calculated. The jump performance was defined as the height of jump using the flight time. In three groups significantly increased the hip joint flexion, and the muscle activity of VL in the PLY group decreased during the landing section. These results may provide useful information on training programs for enhancing performance and preventing injuries for elite female adolescent volleyball players.
