      It is the purpose of this study to identify the relationship between job satisfaction and the individual background of the hospital nurses. Porter Need Satisfaction Questionnaire was tested by 400 registered nurses who were serving from February 1, 1976 to March 15, 1976 at the 10 hospitals in all parts of this country. The data was analyzed by C.R. Test.
      The finding of this study were as follows:
      1) The most satisfied need was social need and the least satisfied need was self-actualization need.
      2) The lower order needs of security and socialization were more satisfied than the higher order needs of esteem. autonomy and self-actualization. 3) There was little difference in need satisfaction by tie age groups and marital status.
      4) The higher was the school career, the less the satisfaction in esteem need.
      5) The satisfaction of esteem and self-actualization needs were higher to the group above 7 years of nursing career than the group under 3 years.
      6) The satisfaction of esteem, autonomy and self-actualization needs were higher to the group of 4-6 years of nursing career than the group under 3 years.
      7) The satisfaction of esteem, autonomy and self-actualization needs were more satisfied for head nurses and supervisors than staff nurses.
      8) The satisfaction of safety, esteem and self-actualization needs were more satisfied to the nurses of the private hospital than the nurses of the national hospitals.
