심성적 구조로 본 궁중무용의 역사사회학적 분석 = A Historical and Sociological Analysis of Court Dance as a Civilizing Process

This study aims to analyze on a socio-hstorical bass how the psychic structure of human activity and the change of beauty recognition of royal dance are connected with a civilizing process. And based on the theory of civilizing process by Elias, this study follows the artistic trend seen in the process in which the external function of ritual has been transformed to internal self control.
This study used the analytical frame of socio-hstoric and comparative methodology in collecting and reevaluating the changing history of court dance. The first group of qualitative materials comprised interviews and archives ,and second group consisted of related articles and annals. My results are as follows.
First, the beauty cognition of royal dance was an artistic expression of psychic attitude which can be seen in the standardized etiquette and its way of action. Namely, the beauty cognition of royal dance was produced from the realization of emotinal level in etiquette.
Secondly, the change of the beauty cognition of royal dance presented itself as simple, beautifying and universal process. And this change was closely related with the civilizing process of court dance.
Originally intended as a culutral means of royal power, the beauty recognition became simpler in form as times went by ,taking the appearance of inner self control. And in the end it grew up to he an universal beauty recognition through the artistic process and carrier of longer civilizing process of traditinal dance.
