윤동주 시에 나타난 ‘거울’의 은유 구조 고찰

국문 초록 (Abstract)

‘거울’ 모티브는 현대시의 중요한 연구 대상이 되어왔다. 이것은 ‘거울’이 지닌 ‘들여다보기’의 표상성이 존재와 현실에 대한 발견과 성찰을 함의하기 때문이다. 윤동주의 시에서도 그의 시적 지향성이 집약된 ‘거울’에 관한 고찰은 매우 중요하다. 지금까지 윤동주 시의 ‘거울’에 관한 연구는 상당히 많이 진척되었으며 주목할 만한 성과도 거두었다. 하지만 윤동주 시의 거울과 관련한 선행연구의 대부분은 이미지 및 상징의 차원에 편중되어 있으며, 비유 연구에 있어서도 그것의 작용 범위가 단어의 차원에 한정되어 있다. 이 논의는 윤동주 시의 ‘거울’이 이미지나 상징적 의미를 넘어 정교한 은유의 얼개 속에서 의미를 생산한다는 문제의식 속에서 출발하였다. 그리고 ‘거울’을 언술의 차원에서 고찰함으로써 은유 구조를 총체적으로 파악하는 데 그 목적을 두었다. 윤동주 시의 ‘거울’의 은유 구조는 크게 인간 신체의 거울화, 자연적 공간의 거울화, 인공적 사물?공간의 거울화로 구성되어 있다. 그는 세 갈래의 은유 양상에 의해 내성의 세계를 구축하며 나아가 기독교적 초월의 세계로의 편입을 구체화하고 있다. 본고는 흐루쇼브스키의 은유 이론을 활용하여 ‘거울’의 은유 구조를 총체적으로 분석하였다는 데 의의가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The ‘mirror’ motif has been a key research subject in the modern poetry. This is because the representation of ‘looking inside’ the mirror has implies the discovery and introspection on existence and reality. The consideration on the mirror is important in studying Yoon Dong-ju’s poems since it portrays the essence of his poetic directivity. There have been many studies on the mirror in Yoon Dong-ju’s poetry and achieved remarkable results. However, most of the precedent studies have been concentrated on the images and symbols of the mirror in his poems, and the working realms in the meaphoric studies were limited to the word level. This paper proposes the mirror in Yoon Dong-ju’s poetry creates meanings in the exquisite metaphoric structure beyond the images or symbolic meanings. Also, it aims to comprehensively figure out the metaphoric structure by considering the mirror in the discourse level. The mirror structures of his poems can be classified into the mirror of human body, the mirror of natural spaces and the mirror of artificial materials and spaces. The poet establishes the introspective world by employing the three-fold metaphoric aspects and materializes the transfer to the Christian transcendental world. This paper is meaningful in that it is differentiated from existing studies by analyzing comprehensively the metaphoric structure of mirror by using Hrushovski`s metaphor theory.
