The earthenware of Daegaya began to spread around the northern of Gaya including Hapchen, Geochang, and Namwon in the latter half 5th century A.D. and built a nationwide distribution area, which is recognized not just as a cultural area but also as a politically meaningful territory.
Its distribution area is shown to have been divided into the spread of political domination and cultural exchange. The former can be defined as politically meaningful and the latter has a different position in history. The diffusion of Daegaya earthenware is directly relevant to its social and political development. Furthermore, its diffusion phases go along with the expansion of Daegaya territory and its cultural development. We could also track down on the foreign transactions and international trade of Daegaya by keeping track of its diffusion phase. The type of earthenware diffusion shows us the relationship of Daegaya with other ancient kingdoms at those times.
According to the result of studying the diffusion of Daegaya earthenware, it was found that there were two phases in its spread. In its first phase, Daegaya earthenware spread into the western area. In its second stage, it is confirmed that it was diffused along with Shilla earthenware to the southern part of Gaya.
Its diffusion type comprises a direct domination, an indirect domination, an alliance, and an exchange circle. We could grasp the existence and territory of Daegaya through this alliance type. On the other hand, the exchange circle didn't seem to form any political network. Therefore, it is assumed that Daegaya established an alliance from its diffusion of earthenware in the first phase.
