This paper, based on the author's experience participating in the revision process of the Declaration of Helsinki, examines the developments in bioethical perspectives in the 2024 revision. The revised Declaration of Helsinki focuses on the vulnerability of research participants, fair and responsible inclusion in research, post-trial provisions, and global justice. The author analyzes how these aspects have evolved in the latest revision. Originating from the reflection on the inhumane experiments by Nazi doctors, the Declaration has always aimed to provide guidelines that respect and protect the rights and welfare of research participants while conducting ethical research. The 2024 revision reaffirms existing ethical principles, emphasizes the importance of adhering to bioethics during pandemics, prioritizes the rights and interests of research participants, and underscores the ethical duties of researchers. This comprehensive revision process reflects the collective intelligence of the global community and ensures that bioethical discussions are meaningfully incorporated into the Declaration of Helsinki. Moving forward, it is crucial that all stakeholders in medical research, including researchers, sponsors, and governments, understand and implement the contents of the Declaration of Helsinki to uphold ethical standards that respect and protect the rights and interests of human participants.
