The purpose of this study is to preliminarily examine the effectiveness of a customized model walking education program that takes into account the characteristics of senior individuals. Seniors are in a period where maintaining body balance, flexibility of movement, and body cognitive functions are important. In this study, real-time body movement data was collected and analyzed using Microsoft Kinect sensors. Based on this, a customized walking and movement training program reflecting the effort (weight, time, space, flow) elements of Laban’s theory was designed. Participants who underwent program implementation showed quantitative and qualitative changes in accuracy of walking posture, variety of movements, body stability, and effort factors. Kinect- based motion capture and feedback system effectively worked on participant movement analysis, posture correction, and motivation, and applied Laban’s effort classification system to help improve body expression and movement quality. As a result, this study suggests that the fusion of digital sensor technology and dance/movement analysis theory can substantially contribute to improving senior health and self-expression.
