This study was designed to evaluate the sitting balance and its relation to activities of daily living(ADL) in 27 spinal cord injuried(SCI) patients who were treated at the Yonsei Rehabilitation Hospital from July, 1999 to October, 1999. Sitting balance was measured by FR(Functional Reach) test and MBI(Modified Barthel Index) to evaluate activities of daily living. The FR mean score was significantly different between the cervical injuries and the thoracic injuries(p<0.001). The MBI mean score was significantly different between them(p<0.05). Correlation was statistically significant between the FR score and the MBI score(p<0.05). The results showed that comprehensive balance training of treatment approach for SCI patients had a significant effect on the improvement of ADL.
