거주시설 주거환경에 대한 중고령 지적장애인의 인식과 경험： 대면인터뷰를 활용한 탐색적 연구 = Living environment of residential facilities： Perceptions and experiences of middle aged and older adults with intellectual disabilities

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aimed to understand the perceptions and experiences of middle aged and older adults with intellectual disabilities regarding living environments of their residential facilities.
Face-to-face interviews were conducted with 12 middle and old aged individuals with intellectual disabilities who had lived in facilities for more than one year. The data were collected at four residential facilities where the participants were residing from early-August, 2015 to mid-February, 2016. For data analysis, conventional content analysis was performed using transcripts of face-to-face interviews, researchers’ observation notes, and transcripts of interviews with facility workers. Throughout the analysis, four categories and eleven subcategories were derived from the data. The categories are as follows：‘living community where care and discomfort coexist’, ‘feelings of ambivalence towards roommates(psychologically close roommate, distant roommate)’, ‘reliable staff members but uncomfortable sometimes’, and ‘diverse and useful services but unfulfilled needs.' Based on the results, several suggestions were presented with an intention to contribute to improved living environments and quality of life of middle-aged and older adults with intellectual disabilities living in residential facilities. In addition, implications of the study were explored with regard to social work education focusing on the ethical practice with people with disabilities in residential facilities.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 거주시설의 주거환경에 대한 중고령 지적장애인 당사자의 인식과 경험을이해하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 거주시설에서 1년 이상 생활한 12 명의 중고령 지적장애인을 대상으로 대면인터뷰를 수행하였다. 자료수집은 2015년 8월초부터 2016년 2월 중순까지 약 6개월에 걸쳐 연구참여자들이 생활하고 있는 4곳의 거주시설에서 이루어졌다. 본 연구에서는 시설입소자 인터뷰 전사본, 연구자의 관찰노트, 시설종사자와의 보충적 인터뷰 전사본을 이용하여 전통적 내용분석을 수행하였고, 이를통해 4개의 범주와 11개의 하위범주를 도출하였다. 거주시설 주거환경에 대한 연구참여자들의 인식을 분명하게 드러내는 4개의 주요 범주는 ‘돌봄과 불편함이 공존하는 생활공동체’, ‘가깝기도 하고 멀기도 한 방식구들’, ‘믿고 의지가 되나 왠지 어려운 종사자’, ‘다양하고 유익하지만 채워지지 않은 욕구’였다. 연구결과를 토대로 거주시설 중고령 지적장애인의 삶의 질 향상과 주거환경 개선을 위한 방안을 제시하고 거주시설에서의 윤리적인 실천을 위한 사회복지교육에서의 함의를 모색하였다.
