존 듀이 습관 개념의 재발견: 습관의 사회문화적 성격에 비추어 본 성장의 의미

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of the study was to have more detailed research on habits as John Dewey's concept based on the principle of continuity in the side of interaction. John Dewey gave an explanation of 'Habits as social function' on the basis of 'interaction', his own philosophical and educational term. To analyze educational meanings and characteristics included in the above-summarized statement, the study centered on relations between habits and custom, culture as the whole of custom, occupation as a given culture and social and cultural meanings of habits in the viewpoint of occupation, which were proposed by John Dewey. In such a process of discussion, the study made it clear that an individual was integrated with society in the individual's own habits and advanced to improve the individual's life in the side of society and culture which the individual belonged to as well as in the individual's private side through the habits when social and cultural interaction had an active effect on habits.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문의 목적은 존 듀이의 습관 개념을 그가 견지하고 있는 일원론에 충실하게 조명하는 데 있다. 이 논문에서는 일원론에 충실하게 듀이의 습관 개념을 조명한다는 것을 다음과 같은 두 가지 접근방식을 명료화하는 것으로 규정하였다. 첫째, 습관의 부정적인 의미와 긍정적인 의미를 분석함으로써 양자 간의 관련성과 습관의 양면성을 가치중립적으로 규명하는 것이다. 둘째, 습관의 개인적 차원과 사회문화적 차원 간의 상호보완적 관계와 통합 가능성을 구체화하는 것이다. 특히 두 번째 접근방식과 관련해서 이 논문은 습관과 관습의 관계, 그리고 소여문화로서 직업에서 부각되는 습관의 특성들을 주목하였다. 이러한 시도는 듀이의 교육론이 성장이라는 하나의 주제어로 축약될 수 있다는 점을 감안할 때 성장에 대한 일원론적 이해라는 말로 정리될 수도 있다.
