The purpose of the study was to have more detailed research on habits as John Dewey's concept based on the principle of continuity in the side of interaction. John Dewey gave an explanation of 'Habits as social function' on the basis of 'interaction', his own philosophical and educational term. To analyze educational meanings and characteristics included in the above-summarized statement, the study centered on relations between habits and custom, culture as the whole of custom, occupation as a given culture and social and cultural meanings of habits in the viewpoint of occupation, which were proposed by John Dewey. In such a process of discussion, the study made it clear that an individual was integrated with society in the individual's own habits and advanced to improve the individual's life in the side of society and culture which the individual belonged to as well as in the individual's private side through the habits when social and cultural interaction had an active effect on habits.
