      A pressure plate, a component of the clutch system, was analyzed by a finite ele ment method under various load conditions including temperature distribution, cen trifugal force and diaphragm pressure. The results show that the effect of diaphra gm pressure is most important and suggests the direction of design change. Also, a hub plate was analyzed with two- and three-dimensional modelling and the resu Its were compared, which shows that a stress concentration occurs around the fille t area and that the effect of the thickness should be considered when the thicknes s is larger that 8mm. These results will be used as a basis for redesign of pressu re plates and hub plates.<br/>
