노자의 『도덕경』과 시뮬라크르 시간 이미지의 영화 = Lao-Tzu’s Tao Te Ching and the Contemporary Cinemas in Time Image of Simularcrum

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Renaissance of Lao-Tzu’s Tao-Te Ching is connected with the contemporary inner consonance and irresistible attacks of simularcrum against the modern neoplatonism. This means that the global contemporary culture is consisted of not the modern majorities’ hierarchical or mono-cultural lives but the tran-modern minorities’ nomadic (horizontal) or multi-cultural ones. Lao-Tzu’s central figure in Tao Te Ching is a nomadic intellectual whose life and knowledge is in the perfect harmony with the way things are. The immanence of the way in Tao Te Ching is the epistemology of simularcrum how the way manifests itself in the world. And the time image of simulacrum is divided into two orderings of the time of Chronos in the permanently becoming present and the time of Aion in the changing and redefining past and future. In the first chapter of Tao Te Ching, we can appreciate “the way that can be told” (道可道) into the time of Aion and “not the producing way” (非常道) into the denial of the time of Chronos. In the cinema Memento (2000) by Christopher Nolan, Renard Shelby kills the policeman by the appreciation of the time of Aion same to “the way that can be told.” And the famous Korean cinema director, Park Chan Wook, is appreciating on the two orderings of time in Chronos and Aion. In the first chapter of Tao Te Ching, “No-naming” (無名) and “No-desiring” (無慾) are the appreciation of Chronos, and “Yes-naming” (有名) and “Yes-desiring” (有慾) are the appreciation of Aion. “These two flow from the same source, but differently named” (此兩者同出而異名), and the same source is the image of simularcrum.
