    This paper explored the direction of writing instruction to complete a idea. The writing instruction is classified the aim of writing into two sorts which are text completion writing and idea completion writing. The writing education emphasized the text completion writing. So, the student considers the writing as constructing the text. They didn`t regard the writing as completing the idea. The research of writing instruction approaches are divided according to standpoints. The first standpoint is a writing stressing expression which is based on discourse convention. The second standpoint is a writing stressing construction which is based on writing strategies. The third standpoint is a writing stressing interpretation which is based on a writer`s view. These approaches emphasized constructing text to express a idea. The new writing instruction approaches should emphasis the idea completion writing. This view requires writer to complete a idea using text construction. The writing instruction must teach the student in the ways of the idea completion.
