Fifteen cases of the mediastinal tumors were treated at Department of Chest Surgery in Chungnam National University Hospital during the period from March 1977 till October 1983 were covered in this study.
The range of the age was 6 months to 65 years and sex ratio was 2 : 1 female to male.
In this study, the neurogenic tumor was most frequent and the teratoma ranked second infrequency. Fourteen cases were confirmed the benign tumors by pathologically, and one case was diagnosed a malignant schwanoma.
Postoperatively, developed complications in 4 cases, which were Horner's syndrome, pneumothorax and bleeding. There was no operative death.
