스릴러 장르의 사회성과 문학적 가능성 = Social meaning and literary possibility of thriller genre

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This writing is object to examine the potential energy in the popular narrative through thriller movies and novels. First of all, it observes that the Korean thriller movie boom in last year has originated to what kind of social unconsciousness and popular demands. And continually, it tries to analyze the social meanings of the thriller movies, The Chaser and The Man from Nowhere. In the year of 2010, the novels which have thriller tendency are all at once created inside the mainstream literary world. This writing investigates how the narrative structure of thriller has been applied in the works, The architect of Kim Eonsoo and The Consultant of Im Seongsun. These novels show the powerful system of capital and authority and throw the questions about ethical responsibility of the individual who lives in it. Like this the popular narrative can have the political and social meaning which is abundant, in addition to the storytelling strategy or the function of vicarious satisfaction. Now it`s necessary to try to discover the value of stories escaped from the exclusive dichotomy between serious literature and popular narrative. When doing like that, the co-evolution of the popular narrative and the literature will be accomplished.
