    This research aims to reveal the effects of sprint and endurance training on the rats' skeletal muscle fibers.
    All 21 four-week-old Wister rats were divided into three groups: control group(group C), sprint group(group S), and endurance group(group E) . On the treadmill for small animals, Group S had a 8-week training a t the slope of 0˚ (60m/min, 30seconds each sets with a 3-minute rest, 30 sets a day, 5 times a week) while Group E had a 8-week training (30m/min, once a day for 60 minutes, 5 times a week).
    After the training, the effects were examined on the rats' weight, muscle weight, muscle fiber composition, the cross section area of muscle fibers, and serum lipids. Data were analyzed by Multiple ANOVA with the post hoc test. The 5% level of signicance was chosen for all the tailed statistical comparisons.
    The following results were obtained :
    1. Rats' weight were significantly(p<.01) increased between both groups and Group C.
    2. Muscle weight were increased significantly(p<.05, p<.001) in absolute and relative muscles of soleus muscle, plantaris muscle, and extensor digitorum longus mucle.
    3. As for muscle fiber composition, Group E was significantly (p<.05) increased in the SO and FOG fiber composition of soleus muscle. Even though the SO fiber composition of plantaris muscle revealed no significance in three groups, its FOG and FG fibers were significantly(p<.05, p<.0l) increased in the training groups. Also, in the FOG and FG fiber composition of extensor digitorum longus muscle, there were significantly(p< .05) increased.
    4. As t o the cross section area of muscle fibers, Group E was significantly(p<.5) increased in the SO fiber area of soleus muscle. In the FG fiber area, the training groups were decreased significantly(p<.05, p<.0l) compared with Group C. In the cases of plantaris muscle and extensor digitorum longus mucle, the SO and FOG fiber areas were significantly(p<.5) increased in Group E.
    5. TG were decreased in the tranining groups. TC were significantly(p<.05) decreased compared with Group C. HDL was significantly(p<.05) increased in Group S and Group E. FFA were significantly(p< .00l) decreased in Group S.
    In conclusions, the ratio of SO and FOG was increased in soleus, EDL and plantaris by endurance training.
    TG and TC were decreased, but HDL was increased in training groups.
    FFA were decreased in Group E compared with Group S
