두 개의 태양, 그리고 여왕봉과 미망인의 거리 : 이상의 〈날개〉를 중심으로 = Two suns, The Difference of 'The Queen Bee' and 'The Widow' : Focusing on Lee-Sang's The Wings

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 이상의 〈날개〉를 고찰함으로써 이상의 작품에 나타나는 ‘연애’와 ‘생활’의 의미를 구명할 수 있는 단초를 마련하고자 하였다. 본고는 다음 세가지 점에 주목하여 이상의 〈날개〉를 분석하고자 하였다.
하나는 〈날개〉의 에피그램과 본 서사와의 관련성을 풀어내기 위해 구조적인 측면에서 접근하는 방식이다. 이 작품의 서두에 제시된 에피그램은 크게 세부분으로 나뉜다. 작품의 중심내용과 기법, 독자에게 요구되는 독법, 작가의 의도가 그것이다. 이 세 개의 의미망에 기반을 두고 작품의 내용을 이해할 필요가 있다. 이렇게 보자면 여인과의 생활이 중심내용이 되고 있는 이 작품에서 작가는 위트와 아이러니, 패러독스를 기법으로 삼고, 이를 바탕으로 자신이 세상을 바라보는 안목을 독자에게 보여주고자 했다고 파악할 수 있다.
다음으로 〈날개〉는 ‘거울 이미지’가 두드러진다. 〈날개〉의 공간은 거울과 관련된 주체의 상황에 따라 분리된다. 거울을 보는 나(나), 거울에 비친 나(안해), 거울에 보이는 나(방 안의 나), 거울에 보이지 않는 나(방 밖의 나)로 각각의 공간이 나뉘게 된다. 이러한 가정을 통해 ‘두 개의 태양’은 태양이 거울에 비친 상황을 의미하며, 안해에 의해 길들여지는 ‘나’의 관계를 시사한다. 그렇지만 안해 역시 모방하는 자에 불과하다.
마지막으로 〈날개〉에 등장하는 ‘여인’의 의미이다. 이 작품에는 ‘여인’과 관련된 여러 기표가 등장한다. ‘여왕봉’, ‘미망인’ 등이 그것이다. 이러한 기표의 의미는 ‘여인과의 생활’을 설계한다고 표명한 작품 서두의 에피그램을 참고하여 유추할 필요가 있다. 여기에서 ‘여왕봉’, ‘미망인’ 등은 생물학적인 여성을 의미하는 것이 아니다. 여왕봉은 경제적인 주도권을 쥐고 있는 가장의 역할을 담당하고 있는 인간을 표상하며, 미망인은 그러한 가장으로서의 역할에 충실하여 다른 한 쪽을 배제하는 폭력적인 인간을 환기시킨다. 이러한 인물들은 모두 일상에서 헤어나지 못하는 생활인으로서, 20세기의 시공간 속에서 19세기적 근대를 무비판적으로 추종하는 인물들을 표상한다.
이상과 같은 논의는 이상의 다른 작품들과의 관련성을 토대로 하여 더 연구될 필요가 있다. 특히 ‘연애’와 ‘생활’의 문제가 함께 논의될 때 〈날개〉가 갖는 의미는 더욱 풍부해질 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This writing analyzed Lee-Sang's The Wings. The result of this writing will be make a possibility of revealing meaning of 'love' and 'life' which appears in Lee-Sang's literature. This writing assumes the next three kind.
First, the narrative is connected in epigram next parts, epigram and the narrative closely ties a relation from the text structure. The epigram divided in three parts. It is said that core contents and technique, the method reading, intention of the author. When trying to be like this, The Wings is regarded that put in the life with a woman with core contents, used a wit, irony and paradox with technique, as a result, the reader will be able to guess the view of the world of the author.
Second, 'the mirror image' appears prominently. The space of the text is divided according to situation of the subject which relates with the mirror. Each space gets divided : the subject who sees the mirror (I), the subject who shines in the mirror (wife), the subject who is visible in the mirror (the hero was inside the room), the subject who is not visible in the mirror (the hero was outside the room). When assumes like this, we will be able to understand that 'two suns' means the situation where the sun is visible in the mirror. The hero comes to tame in compliance with the wife. However the wife learns and imitates the method from relationship with the others.
There is a necessity which last, we will pay attention in meaning 'woman'. In this text, some signifiant appears, for example 'queen bee', 'widow', it is relation with the woman. It does not mean the woman as the biological sex. 'Queen bee' means the head of family that has a right economic activity, so to say a patriarch or a matriarch. 'Widow' means the violent person that is faithful to the role head of a family and excludes one´s spouse from a place, activity or right. Like this people could not get out the little ordinaries. Those signifiant represent that they follow uncritically 19th century modern times, even though they are living in 20th century.
There is a necessity which research magnifies the scope with the Lee-Sang's literature. If includes that subject, the meaning of The wings has become more abundantly.
