There have been a lot of studies on the settling characteristics of spherical particles in monodisperse and binary suspension. but few studies on the settling characteristics of non-spherical fine particles in suspensions.
An experimental study was carried out to investigate the settling characteristics of non - spherical fine particles and the effect of volume concentration and particle size on slope index n values in suspensions.
As a result, the slope index n values, the slopes obtained from the line of logarithm of settling rate versus logarithm of viodage, in suspensions of non - spherical fine particles were larger than the values obtained from Richardson-Zaki equation. and the slope index n values increased with the particle size decreasing.
