      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      This paper attempts to understand the general trends in the sport industry by identifying (1) future prospective areas within the industry, and (2) alternatives for meeting the challenges faced by and industry in the age information.
      The followong is a summary of my paper:
      1. The role and function of sport information must be strengthened in order to develop a positive awareness of information and industry, In doing so. sport itself must recover its identity and provide added value as an industry.
      2. In order to achieve this, education regarding the relationship between sport information and the sport industry must be provide, and these education must be differentiated according to its subjects. At the same time, the introduction of a high technical information system is effective.
      3. Also, in order to foster a sport industry which effectively utilizes sport information, the marketing of sport information as something which can meet certain people's needs must be considered. This can be referred to as sport information marketing and sport industry marketing.
      4. Various sport events which can contribute to the development of the sport industry must be held in various areas. This not only promotes international relations but also positively contribute to the sport industry's development.
      5. Recently, sport has been used as a means to promote international relations between South Korea and North Korea. A way to develop the sport industry though the exchange of sport information with North Korea is in the process of being conceptualized. North Korea is very actively marketing its sport industry.
      6. In order to support research and practices in sport information, field work is necessary. The sport industry does not exist only the on-line level. Therefore, people must be made aware that the sport industry is close to them through off-line level.
