탈진실 시대에 진실 가르치기 : 마르쿠스 가브리엘의 신실재론을 중심으로 = Teaching Truth in an Age of Post-Truth : Focusing on Markus Gabriel's New Realism

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The rise of an extremely relativistic worldview is a threat to democracy. Post-truth phenomena based on cognitive dissonance, group conformity, and confirmation bias highlight the need to teach truth. Markus Gabriel's moral realism insists on understanding morality as an object of discovery, not construction, and fostering a sense of value that guarantees reality. He developed ontological arguments and epistemological pluralism in the field of semantics. The ontological argument argues that the world does not exist and that objects appear in multiple semantic fields. Epistemological pluralism argues that although he thoughts can fall into error through the distinction between conditions and assumptions, one does not have to abandon all cognition of facts. This study examines Jeremy Bentham's discussion on eating meat as an example of the application of moral realism. In college classes, students are confused by Bentham's position and confirm the difference between thoughts and values ​by asking questions about the distinction between facts and opinions and the neutrality of knowledge. Gabriel's new realism is a discourse formed on a realist turn and is worthy of use as a resource to renew the relativism of postmodern education.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

극단적인 상대주의적 세계관의 득세는 민주주의에 위협이 되고 있다. 특히, 인지부조화, 집단 동조, 확증 편향에 입각한 탈진실 현상은 진실을 가르쳐야 할 필요성을 제기한다. 마르쿠스 가브리엘의 도덕실재론은 도덕을 구성이 아닌 발견의 대상으로 이해하고 사실성을 담보한 가치관을 육성할 것을 주장한다. 그는 이를 위해 의미장에관한 존재론적 논변과 인식론적 다원주의를 전개한다. 먼저 존재론적 논변은 세계는 존재하지 않으며, 대상은 복수의 의미장에 나타난다고 주장한다. 인식론적 다원주의는 조건과 가정의 구분을 통해 내 생각이 오류에 빠질 수있지만 사실에 대한 인식 전부를 내버리지 않아도 된다고 주장한다. 본 연구는 이를 응용한 도덕실재론의 사례로서 제러미 벤담의 육식에 대한 논의를 살펴보았다. 대학 수업에서 학생들은 벤담의 입장에 혼란을 느끼는 바, 사실과 의견의 구분, 지식의 중립성에 대한 질문을 통해 생각과 가치관의 차이를 확인한다. 가브리엘의 신실재론은실재론적 전회 위에 형성된 담론으로서 포스트모던 교육학의 상대주의를 쇄신할 자원으로 삼을 만하다.
