청소년의 자아개념에 관한 국가별 비교 = 한국, 일본, 미국, 독일, 스웨덴을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국, 일본, 미국, 독일, 스웨덴 청소년들의 자아개념에 대한 성별, 연령, 성적, 독립ㆍ자립 의식, 성역할 태도, 부모의 학력, 부모의 자녀 양육방식의 영향력을 분석하였다. 특히 청소년의 자아개념에 영향을 미치는 사회화의 기제인 부모의 자녀 양육방식을 통해 동양의 상호의존적 자아 및 서양의 독립적 자아를 강조하는 국가별 차이를 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 2006년에 조사된 ‘청소년 사회화과정의 국제비교 연구Ⅰ’이 분석 자료로 사용되었다. 연구결과에 따르면 한국, 일본, 미국, 독일, 스웨덴 청소년들은 부정적 자아개념보다 긍정적 자아개념이 더 높았으며, 긍정적 자아개념이 높을수록 부정적 자아개념이 낮았다. 전반적으로 아버지와 어머니가 민주적 양육방식을 취할수록, 강압적 양육방식을 취하지 않을수록 청소년 자녀의 자아개념에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 각국 청소년들의 긍정적 자아개념과 부정적 자아개념에는 다른 독립변수들보다 부모의 자녀 양육방식이 미치는 영향력이 컸으며, 어머니의 양육방식이 아버지의 양육방식보다 청소년들의 자아개념에 미치는 영향력이 더 컸다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The goal of this study was to determine whether the parenting styles of fathers and mothers affect the self-concepts of their children. Data from the 2006 Survey on Youth Development and Family Relations, performed in South Korea, Japan, the United States, Germany, and Sweden by the Korea Institute for Youth Development were utilized.
According to the main findings of this study, the positive self-concepts of adolescents in these 5 countries were higher than their negative self-concepts. The democratic parenting styles of fathers and mothers affected positive and negative self-concepts of their children to a statistically significant degree. The parenting styles of mothers were more important than those of fathers in the formation of the self-concepts of their children.
