보라국과 포상팔국전쟁 = Bora-guk and the Battle of the Eight Country of Water

국문 초록 (Abstract)

포상팔국전쟁은 어느덧 많은 연구성과가 축적되었다. 그런 만큼 다양한 학설이 존재한다. 전쟁시기에 대한 각양각색의 주장들, 침략전쟁을 야기한 자 및 침략당한 자에 대한 몇 가지 견해들, 그 외 전쟁목적과 성격 등의 문제들. 정말이지 문자그대로 百家爭鳴이다.
이글에서도 종래부터의 다양한 견해에 미미하지만 나름의 새로운 주장을 첨가하였다. 그것은 첫째, 포상팔국을 꼭 바닷가에서 찾지를 말고, 강가에서 찾아야 한다. 그러한 까닭으로 둘째, 보라국의 위치를 새롭게 낙동강 지역에서 비정하였다. 그리고 셋째, 보라국이야말로 포상팔국동맹을 결성하여 가야의 주도권을 놓고 김해 가락국과 쟁패했던 나라였다.
포상팔국전쟁은 제1차와 제2차로 구분할 수 있는데, 보라국은 제1차 전쟁에는 직접 참전하여 김해 가락국을 공격했었다. 그러나 신라의 개입으로 패배하였다. 보라국은 제2차 전쟁 때, 직접 참전하는 대신 동맹인 골포국 등 3국을 사주하여 신라의 갈화성을 공격하게 하였다. 그러나 역시 신라에게 패전하고 말았다.
거듭된 패전에도 불구하고, 보라국은 새로 국호를 고치고 지속적으로 성장하여 가야사 발전의 주역이 되고자 무던히 노력하는 모습을 각종 문헌과 기록 자료에서 보이고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The battle of the eight country of water has accumulated many research results. As such, there are various theories. Various claims about the war period, several views about those who started the war of aggression and those who were invaded, and other issues such as the purpose and nature of the war. It is literally a hundred families fighting.
In this article, I have added a new argument, albeit a small one, to the various opinions from the past. First, the eight country of water should not necessarily be found on the seashore, but on the riverside. For this reason, second, the location of Bora-guk was newly determined to be in the Nakdong River region. And third, Bora-guk was the country that formed ‘the Alliance of the Eight Country of Water’ and fought with Gimhae Garak-guk for the leadership of Gaya.
The battle of the eight country of water can be divided into the first and second. In the first war, Bora-guk directly participated and attacked Gimhae Garak-guk. However, it was defeated due to Silla’s intervention. In the second war, Bora-guk did not participate directly, but instead incited its allies, including Golpo-guk, to attack Silla’s Galhwaseong castle. However, it was defeated by Silla again.
Despite repeated defeats, Bora-guk changed its national name and continued to grow, making tireless efforts to become a leading player in the development of Gaya history, as shown in various documents and records.
