The story between Yugiri the son of Hikaru Genji and Ochibanomiya the Imperial princess is shared in 「Oak Tree」, 「Flute」 and 「Evening Fog」 of 『Genji Monogatari』. Of those three volumes, in this volume titled 「Evening Fog」, a large amount of rich architectural vocabulary appears, and it represents concrete movement correspondences between architectural spaces and characters only efficiently in a monogatari-like way. In 「Yugiri's Story」, 「fog」 and 「dew」 the natural features are particularly arousing these feelings of characters, sorrow and groan, as they are related to these images such as 'wet in tears' and 'is framed'. On top of that, as for the architectural spaces, through this 「nurikomei the earth-floored room」 which is referred to as the most private space of all, how this female character who tries to protect herself would end up having a relationship with a man whom she would never want to get involved with is described while the earth-floored room the last bastion is eventually violated. To this woman, Ochibanomiya, 「nurikome」 is considered something that signifies her being herself which she would want to protect until the end. In regard to the language expressions, Yugiri, a typical type of 「mamebito」, does not succeed exposing his inside truthfully when it comes to building a relationship with a female character, and in that respect, how he fakes himself and how his doing so affects the surroundings have been efficiently described with this expression, 'a look that seems like’. Those situations such as how there is no guardian for the woman to rely on and 'there is no more place to hide' are believed to be spatially embodied through 「nurikome」 the place hidden deepest in a building.
