Jya Ong Yun Tchi Ho (1865-1945) takes an important part in the modern history of Korea. He was a pioneer for Korean enlightenment, politician, educator, civil leader and religious practitioner with a firm faith of Christianity. He produced achievements for civilization of Korea.
In this study, his meritorious deeds are examined, based on existing studies on his thought and merits. Especially a focus is given on his faith, activities at the Independence Association, Christian education.
Yun Tchi Ho was born at Chungchungdo in Chosun Period(1865). He was a noble birth, but his families was reduced to a position of local servants because no national position was offered to them for three generation. His father, Yun Eung Ryol was a military officer who was treated inhospitably at that time. As the class of his family was not very high, he was allowed to accept new ideology easily. He was given modern education during studies at Japan as a member of The Gentleman Excursion when he was seventeen by his father's support.
