      This study was conducted to show the possibility of application of anaerobic digestion process in low temperature. Laboratory single-stage anaerobic digester was operated at 15 to 80 days' HRT at the temperature of 15℃, 20℃, 25℃ and 35℃.
      The results of this study indicated that the organic removal efficiencies and gas productions were remarkably decreased in low temperature. Despite of the low organic loading of 0.67 ㎏-COD/㎥·day at 15℃ the gas production was very poor as 0.16㎥CH_4/㎏COD removed. The observed maximum F/Mv ratio which would get the organic removal efficiencies of 70% and 60% respectively at the temperature of 20℃ and 15℃ were 0.1 ㎏COD/㎏MLVS·day. The substrate removal rates(Km) had a tendency to become larger at higher temperature, and were critical at the temperature of 20 to 25℃.
