This study analyzes Cindy-Sherman`s subconsciousness which is reflected in her self-portraits from the perspective of Jung`s analytical psychology. This intends to provide the theoretical and clinical resources, which can prove the clinical possibility of art to attain the psychological balance and self integration by creative activities while this study suggests the cross point of consciousness and subconsciousness in the art. First, this study concentrates on the concept of subconsciousness in the standpoint of Jung`s analytical psychology. Second, the literature research in this paper deals with the trend of art history which appeared in Cindy Sherman`s time, and examines the artwork process of Cindy Sherman during that period. This shows how one`s personal life and time period influence one individual`s experience and artwork process. Third, this study analyzes the characteristics of the art work, which reflects Cindy Sherman`s emotion, for the purpose of examining how the concepts of subconsciousness are projected on her arts, and are related to her works, from the viewpoint of Jung`s analytical psychology. Forth, based on Cindy Sherman`s arts, this study intends to shed the light on the clinical function which arts possess, and self-realization during one`s art-work procedures. As a result, the study of Cindy Sherman`s self-portraits confirms that art works possess the function of self-realization, and the clinical possibility of art by the means of the interchange with self subconsciousness.
