      The use of a check valve to prevent backflow of fluid causes fatigue and wear of the pump due to factors such as fluid flow, repetitive operation, and the like. To prevent this, research is underway to develop a valveless piezoelectric pump. This paper investigates the technology of valveless piezoelectric pumps using a traveling wave among various kinds of valveless piezoelectric pumps and compares and analyzes operation rinciple, design structure, frequency, the driving voltage and flow characteristics. As a result, it was found that the piezoelectric pump using the ring type piezoelectric element had the largest flow rate among the hollow type, plate type, and ring type piezoelectric elements, and the frequency influenced the flow characteristics rather than the driving voltage. According to the existing studies, the valveless peristaltic piezoelectric pump is limited in the transferable flow rate. Therefore, in this study, we intend to develop a valveless piezoelectric pump capable of circulating more flow by generating a peristaltic motion in a flow tube using a piezoelectric actuator.
