사회적 배제가 농촌노인의 건강에 미치는 영향 및 사회적 지지의 조절효과 = The Moderating Effect of Social Support in the Contribution of Rural Elderly's Experience of Social Exclusion to Health

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to investigate the situation of social exclusion and the effects of social exclusion on health among rural elderly, especially focused on testing the moderating effect of social support. Data from the first wave of 『Korean Social Life, Health and Aging Project(KSHAP)』 panel was used for analyzing 769 elderly over 60. The results showed that rural elderly had been excluded from the economic exclusion the most. Next came health, working, education, relationship, social participation, and medical service exclusion. And 30.4% of the respondents had been excluded more than three types of exclusion at the same time. In terms of the effects of social exclusion on health, age, the size of a family, social exclusion level, social support from spouse and friend(neighbor) had statistically significant impact on health. In other words, rural elderly who was older, who had more family members, who had higher level of social exclusion, who had received less social support from spouse, who had received less social support from friend(neighbor), who had been living with children showed poorer health than their counterparts. The result of hierarchial regression indicated that interaction effect between spouse's support and social exclusion had statistically significant impact on health. When social exclusion effects on health negatively, social support from spouse buffers rural elderly's health from the bad effects. Implications for paying more attention to the socially excluded old people in rural areas and for improving their health were suggested.
