〈삼승할망본풀이〉의 서사 구성과 신화적 의미 = 출산 화소의 특이성을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 〈삼승할망본풀이〉의 서사 구성 방식에 대해 살핀 연구이다. 〈삼승할망본풀이〉는 일반적인 서사무가와 달리 대상신인 명진국따님애기보다 그 반대에 서 있는 동해용궁따님애기의 서술이 길게 이어져 있는 특성을 보인다. 전체적인 전개에 있어 동해용궁따님애기의 서사가 더욱 중점적으로 다루어지고 있는 것이다. 동해용궁따님애기의 서사는 하나의 신격좌정담으로서의 구성을 보인다고 해도 과언이 아닐 정도로 그 비중이 상당하다. 때문에 정작 〈삼승할망본풀이〉의 주인공인 명진국따님애기는 그 내력이 간략하게만 제시되고 있다.
이렇게 〈삼승할망본풀이〉에서 동해용궁따님애기가 비중 있게 다루어지는 이유는 그녀의 출산 방식을 통해 추정할 수 있다. 동해용궁따님애기는 명진국따님애기와 달리 겨드랑이로 출산을 시도하다 실패하고 만다. 이 실패 때문에 생불왕이 되지 못하고 저승어멍으로 좌정하게 되는 것이다. 하지만 동해용궁따님애기의 출산 방식은 여러 신화에서 등장하는 ‘신의 출생’과 관계가 있다. 같은 지역에서 전승되는 〈초공본풀이〉를 비롯하여, 알영, 석가모니의 출생 등에서 동해용궁따님애기의 시도처럼 겨드랑이로 탄생하는 모습을 찾아 볼 수 있다. 즉, 동해용궁따님애기가 시도한 겨드랑이로의 출산은 일종의 신화적 출산이라는 것이다. 하지만 〈삼승할망본풀이〉는 인간의 출생을 담당하는 산육신에 대한 서사이다. 그렇다보니 동해용궁따님애기가 아닌 명진국따님애기가 산육신의 자리를 차지할 수 있게 된 것이다.
결국 〈삼승할망본풀이〉는 인간의 출생을 담당하는 산육신의 기원에 대한 설명을 하기 위해, 출생의 기원이라 할 수 있는 신의 출생부터 다루고 있다고 할 수 있다. 신의 출생에서 인간의 출생으로의 이행이 담겨 있는 신화가 바로 〈삼승할망본풀이〉인 것이다. 그래서 〈삼승할망본풀이〉는 일반적인 신화 서술 방식과 달리 대상신이 아닌 동해용궁따님애기의 서사가 초반부에 길게 이어지게 되었다고 볼 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

It is the study which examined about narration formation way of 〈Samseunghalmangbonpuri〉. In 〈Samseunghalmangbonpuri〉, East Sea Dragon King’s daughter’s narration is more longer than Myeongjinguk’s daughter. We’re able to estimate from her childbirth way that why East Sea Dragon King’s daughter deals with more seriously in 〈Samseunghalmangbonpuri〉. East Sea Dragon King’s daughter failed that she tried to give birth to a baby from her armpit different from Myeongjinguk’s daughter. However, East Sea Dragon King’s daughter’s childbirth way is related with “the God’s birth” from some kinds of myths. We’re able to see the feature that gave birth to a baby from her armpit like East Sea Dragon King’s daughter from Alyeong, Buddha’s birth including 〈Chogongbonpuri〉 which hands down in the same area. Thus, East Sea Dragon King’s daughter showed a strong appearance of “The God’s birth”. However, 〈Samseunghalmangbonpuri〉 is about the Godbody that takes charge of human’s birth. That’s why Myeongjinguk’s daughter was able to take possession of The God of bear and raise.
Eventually, it deals with “the God’s birth” that is a origin of birth for giving an explanation about The God of bear and raise’s origin that takes charge of human’s birth. It is 〈Samseunghalmangbonpuri〉 that the myth includes from God’s birth to human’s birth way. So, East Sea Dragon King’s daughter’s narration take a long possession in the opening part different from usual myth narration way in 〈Samseunghalmangbonpuri〉.
