펫코노미 시대의 반려동물과 동물원 동물의 사회적 역할: 문헌 고찰 연구 = The Social Roles of Companion Animals and Zoo Animals in the Pet Economy Era: A Literature Review

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 펫코노미 시대를 배경으로, 현대 사회에서 반려동물과 동물원 동물이 수행하는 다양한 역할과 그 중요성을 다각도로 문헌 고찰을 통해 분석하였다. 연구의 목적은 반려동물과 동물원 동물이 정서적, 경제적, 사회적 측면에서 사회적 안정성과 삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 종합적으로 탐구하는 것이다. 문헌 분석 결과, 반려동물은 인간에게 정서적 안정과 삶의 질 향상에 중요한 기여를 하며, 특히 초고령 사회에서 그 중요성이 더욱 부각되고 있음을 확인하였다. 반면, 동물원 동물은 교육적 역할과 정서적 지원 측면에서 큰 잠재력을 가지고 있으며, 그들의 사회적 역할과 영향에 대한 추가적인 평가와 개선이 필요하다. 또한, 동물원 동물은 종 보전 및 환경 보호 교육을 통해 사회적 유대감을 형성하는 데 기여하고 있으며, 멸종 위기종 보호에 중요한 역할을 한다는 점도 드러났다. 이에 따라, 정부와 관련 기관은 반려동물과 동물원이 제공하는 다양한 혜택을 극대화하기 위한 정책적 지원을 강화해야 한다. 특히, 고령층을 대상으로 한 정서적 교감 프로그램 개발과 대중의 인식을 높이기 위한 다양한 캠페인을 추진할 것을 제언한다.

This study analyzed the various roles and significance of companion and zoo animals in modern society in the context of the "Pet Economy" era based on the results of an extensive literature review. The purpose of the research was to comprehensively explore the impact of companion animals and zoo animals on emotional, economic, and social stability, as well as their influence on quality of life. The study revealed that companion animals significantly contribute to emotional stability and quality of life, particularly in super-aged societies. In contrast, zoo animals were found to have great educational and emotional support, though further assessment and enhancement of their social roles and impact are necessary. In addition, zoo animals play a vital role in fostering social bonds through species conservation and environmental education and contribute to the protection of endangered species. Based on these findings, it is recommended that governments and relevant institutions enhance policy support and maximize the benefits provided by companion and zoo animals. Particular attention should be given to developing emotional interaction programs for the elderly and promoting public awareness campaigns to raise understanding of the societal value of these animals.
