In order to study IADL and its related factors in the rural elderly, 235 people who are over 65 year old and living in seven villages of Gang-dong Myon in Kyung-Ju County of Kyung Sang Pook Do were interviewed using questionnaire from April. 28 to May. 7, 1993. The major findings were as follows ; For the IADL distribution by sex, it showed that male was 64.3% and female was 47.0% in high IADL(can do all IADL) ; male was 24.8% and female was 46.3% in moderate IADL(can`t do one IADL) ; male was 10.9% and female was 6.7% in low IADL(can`t do more than one IADL). There were significant IADL differences in age, education, job, living with spouse, living with sons and daughters, but not in sex, religion. In terms of living behavior, there were significant IADL differences in drinking, satisfaction of pocket money, living expenses, leisure time activity, subjective health status, monthly pocket money, ADL, but not in smoking. In stepwise multiple regression analysis for IADL, age, ADL, leisure time activity, monthly pocket money, satisfaction of pocket money, subjective health status, living expenses, were proved on significant explanatory variables, and Multiple R was 0.71, R square was 0.50. Stepwise multiple regression analysis by Quantification Theory Type I, the degree of IADL for the aged was significantly lowered among those who are older, had middle or low ADL, have less active in using leisure time, use their monthly pocket money less than 10,000 or over 100,000, were more satisfied with their monthly pocket money, feel their health status was poor, depends their living expenses on their offsprings completely.
