The bioavaliability of two pharmaceutical formulations of acetaminophen were compared, one being a hard capsule dosage form into which edible oils were not infused and the other hard capsules into which edible oils were infused and the drug was suspensed.
A quantitative high-pressure liquid chromatographic method was employed for the determination of acetaminophen in the rabbit serums.
In rabbits acetaminophen capsules in which the drug was suspensed in edible oils showed higher bioavailability than the capsule form into which edible oils were not infused.
Comparing the effect of three kinds of the edible oils on the bioavailability of acetaminophen capsules in terms of the area under the serum concentration-time curve(AUC) of acetaminophen, soybean oil on the bioavailability of acetaminophen capsules may be explained by the fact that unsaturated fatty acids containing in the oily may act as a prominent factor.
