This study is aim to make middle school students have cultural knowledge with fabric product design programs which are useful for living culture.
Artistic activities in modern life are important because of various desires of customers in contemporary society. In these days, the ability of understanding art and expressing one’s emotion through art is needed. Therefore, the fabric product design classes good for living culture are proper courses for students in modern society.
In the second part of this study, there are the meaning of living culture and the necessity of fabric product design educational programs. To understand the present condition of art education helpful for living culture, this study analyzed revised middle school art textbooks in 2015 and the survey of students and art teachers. The survey showed that the students and teachers need the art design educational programs which are useful for living culture, and the art classes can have positive effects for students.
In the third part, this study showed the results of the three different fabric product design classes after having real practical classes with middle school students. The three design classes are an accessory design class which is useful for clothing culture, a kitchen interior design class which is useful for dietary culture, and a tapestry fabric product design class which is useful for housing culture. Each class had a chance to learn the expression methods such as finger knitting, coiling, and tapestry. During the classes, to encourage the participation, the work sheet was distributed, and the teacher gave feedback for each student.
In the forth part, this study analyzed the result of the classes and the after class survey. This study showed the educational effects after the classes.
The first effect is the students can have new cognizance about the fabric product design educational programs. The learners realized that the design classes useful for living culture are necessary through the practical classes.
The second effect is the fabric products were used more in real life. The number of students who used self-created fabric products increased.
The third effect is the ability for design expression of students has been developed. The students studied the expression methods such as finger knitting, coiling, and tapestry, and they can make what they need.
For advanced the fabric product design educational programs, this study suggested developing teaching materials and class room interior projects.
Based on the study results, the fabric product design educational programs useful for living culture are necessary in the modern society. The researcher of this study tried to enhance the ability for expression of students and the interest of the fabric product designs. The researcher hopes that the educational programs in this study are frequently used in real classrooms to make art education better and the fabric product design programs which is interesting and artistic valuable are developed.

본 논문은 중학생들을 대상으로 생활 문화에 유용한 직물 제품 디자인 프로그램을 개발하여 생활 미술에 대한 이해도를 높이고 이를 표현함으로써 생활을 풍요롭게 영위할 수 있는 문화적 소양을 갖추게 하는 데 그 목적을 두었다.
현대 사회는 소비자의 욕구가 점차 다양해짐에 따라 문화 예술 활동이 일상생활 속에서 중요한 부분을 차지하고 있다. 이러한 시대의 흐름에 따라 삶 속에서 미술을 이해하고 이를 표현할 수 있는 실용적인 능력이 필요시 되고 있다. 따라서 실생활과 연계된 실용적인 제품 교육의 필요성을 인지하게 되었다. 이와 관련된 생활 문화에 유용한 직물 제품 디자인 수업은 학생들이 현대 사회가 필요로 하는 실용적인 능력을 갖추기에 적절한 교육이라고 할 수 있다.
이를 위해 2장에서는 생활 문화의 개념을 이해하고 생활 문화에 유용한 직물 제품 디자인 프로그램 개발의 필요성에 대해 알아보았다. 중학교 미술 교육에서 생활 문화에 유용한 미술 교육 실시 현황을 알아보기 위해 2015 개정 중학교 미술 교과서와 미술 교사 및 중학교 학생 대상 설문지 분석을 통하여 실제 수업 상의 현황을 파악하였다. 그 결과, 교사와 학생 모두 생활 문화에 유용한 제품 디자인 수업이 필요하다고 응답하였으며, 실용적인 미술 교육이 학습자들의 삶에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다.
3장에서는 생활 문화에 유용한 직물 제품 디자인에 대한 프로그램을 세 가지 개발하여 적용하고 수업의 결과를 분석하였다. 개발한 프로그램은 생활 문화에 따라 ‘‘의 생활’ 문화에 유용한 장신구 제품 디자인 프로그램’, ‘‘식 생활’ 문화에 유용한 키친 인테리어 직물 제품 디자인 프로그램’, ‘‘주 생활’ 문화에 유용한 태피스트리 직물 제품 디자인 프로그램’이다. 각 프로그램은 핑거니팅, 코일링, 태피스트리와 같은 다양한 표현 방법을 익힐 수 있도록 하여 학생들이 수업에 흥미를 느낄 수 있게 구성하였다. 또한, 활동지를 활용하여 본인이 직접 디자인한 직물 제품을 완성도 있게 제작할 수 있도록 교실을 돌아다니며 디자인에 대한 피드백을 개인별로 진행하여 수업의 참여도를 높였다.
4장에서는 개발한 프로그램을 적용 후 얻은 결과와 적용 대상자들을 상대로 수업 후의 설문지를 통해 다음과 같은 교육적 효과를 얻을 수 있었다.
첫째, 직물 제품 디자인 교육에 대한 인식을 새롭게 하게 되었다. 학습자들은 실생활에서 사용되는 직물 제품을 직접 제작해 봄으로써 생활에 유용한 디자인 교육이 필요하다는 것을 깨닫게 되었다.
둘째, 실생활에서의 직물 제품 활용도가 향상되었다. 본인이 디자인한 직물 제품을 직접 사용하는 학습자들이 증가하였다.
셋째, 학생들의 제품 디자인 표현 능력이 함양되었다. 핑거니팅, 코일링, 태피스트리와 같은 다양한 표현 방법을 익히고, 이를 응용하여 필요한 직물 제품을 제작할 수 있는 디자인 표현 능력이 향상되었다.
이러한 프로그램의 교육적 효과에 따라 좀 더 발전적인 직물 제품 디자인 교육을 위해 다양한 교재·교구를 개발하고, 교실 인테리어 직물 제품 디자인 프로젝트 개발이라는 활성화 방안을 마련하였다.
결론적으로 생활 문화에 유용한 미술 교육 및 직물 제품 디자인 프로그램 은 현대 사회가 필요로 하는 실용적인 능력을 갖추기 위해 필요한 미술 교육이라는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구자는 학습자들이 생활 문화 및 직물 제품에 대해 관심을 가지고 이에 대한 올바른 이해와 더불어 디자인 표현 능력을 증진시키고자 노력하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 프로그램이 실제 교육 현장에서 많이 활용되어 실용성 있는 미술교육으로 일조할 수 있도록 학생들에게 보다 흥미롭고 예술성을 갖춘 직물 제품 제작 프로그램이 지속적으로 개발되어야 할 것이다.
