여자 고등학생들의 외모에 대한 사회문화적 태도 내면화, 신체만족도, 섭식태도, 우울, 자살사고의 관계

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 여자 고등학생을 대상으로 외모에 대한 사회문화적 태도의 인식과 내면화, 신체만족도, 섭식태도, 우울, 그리고 자살사고 간의 관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구대상자는 경기도 소재의 2개 고등학교에 재학 중인 1학년 여학생 300명이었다. 측정도구로는 외모에 대한 사회문화적 태도 척도(SATAQ), 신체만족도 척도(BET), 섭식태도 척도(EAT-26), 우울척도(ZDI), 자살사고척도(SSI)를 사용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 외모에 대한 사회문화적 태도를 인식하고 내면화할수록 낮은 자존감, 왜곡된 섭식태도, 높은 우울, 높은 자살사고를 보였다. 둘째, 신체만족도는 외모에 대한 사회문화적 태도와 섭식태도 사이를 부분 매개하였다. 셋째, 신체만족도는 섭식태도와 우울, 자살사고 사이를 매개하였다. 넷째, 섭식태도는 외모에 대한 사회문화적 태도와 우울, 자살사고 사이를 완전 매개하였다. 다섯째, 우울은 섭식태도와 자살사고 사이를 완전 매개하였다. 여섯째, 섭식태도와 우울과의 관계에서 신체만족도는 조절효과가 있었다. 일곱째, 섭식태도와 자살사고와의 관계에서 신체만족도는 조절효과가 있었다. 이러한 연구결과 는 여자 고등학생의 자살 사고를 진단하고 치료할 때 외모에 대한 사회문화적 태도의 인식과 내면화, 자아존중감, 왜곡된 섭식태도, 우울을 검토해 보는 것이 중요하다는 점을 시사하고 있다. 후속연구로는 남자 청소년이나 임상집단을 대상으로 연구결과가 반복 검증되는 것이 필요하다고 사료된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was to explore the relationships among sociocultural attitude towards appearance, body esteem, eating attitude, depression, and suicidal ideation in a community group of Korean female high school students (N=300). The results indicate that 1) The more sociocultural attitude toward appearance female adolescents perceive and internalize, the lower body esteem they have. And those females have more symptoms of depression and suicidal ideation. Above all, they have more distorted eating attitude (especially, in terms of dieting & bulimia). 2) Body esteem partially mediates sociocultural attitude toward appearance and eating attitude. 3) Eating attitude completely mediates sociocultural attitude toward appearance and depression or suicidal ideation. 4) Depression completely mediates eating attitude and suicidal ideation. 5) Body esteem moderates the relation between eating attitude and depression or suicidal ideation. This study suggests that for the evaluation and treatment of suicidal ideation of female high school students, it is important to examine their perception and internalization of sociocultural attitude towards appearance, body esteem, and distorted eating attitude and behaviors along with their depressive symptoms. Future study is necessary to replicate the findings using male adolescents or clinical samples. (Korean J Str Res 2008;16:325∼333)
