친인권적 부모 및 학교 환경이 청소년의 인권의식에 미치는 영향: 자아존중감의 매개효과 및 성별차이 = The role of human rights friendly parental attitudes and school environments in adolescents’ human rights consciousness: the mediating effect of self-esteem and gender differences

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to examine the effects of human rights friendly parental attitudes and school environments which respect adolescents’expression of opinions and ensure the rights of participation on adolescents’ human rights consciousness and to test the mediating effect of self-esteem. It also verifies if there were possible gender differences in the relationship among these variables. A total of 6,691 cases from the Korean Survey on the Rights of Children and Youth in 2013 was used for the analysis. Based on the existing literature on the key variables of the study, a research model was specified, and the hypothesized paths were tested using the structural equation modeling. Main findings from the analysis of the structural model revealed that the both human rights friendly parental attitudes and school environments had significant indirect effect on adolescents’human right consciousness via self-esteem. Results on the multi-group analysis showed that there were significant gender differences on the path between adolescents’ human rights friendly school environment and human right consciousness and the path between adolescents’ self-esteem and human right consciousness. Study findings were discussed in terms of implications for creating human rights friendly environments as well as human right education and for future studies.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 청소년의 의견표명과 참여를 존중하는 친인권적 부모 및 학교 환경과 인권의식의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 검증하고, 이러한 경로에 있어 성별차이를 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2013 한국 아동․청소년인권실태조사를 활용하였으며, 총 6,691명의 중․고등학생의 설문조사 자료가 분석에 사용되었다. 관련변수들에 관한 기존 선행연구를 토대로 설정한 연구모형에 대해 구조방정식과 다집단 분석을 실시하였다. 구조모형 분석결과, 청소년의 의견표명 및 참여를 존중하는 부모 및 학교 환경은 자아존중감을 통해 직․간접적으로 청소년의 인권의식에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 성별 집단에 대한 다집단 분석결과, 친인권적 학교 환경이 인권의식에 미치는 경로와 자아존중감이 인권의식에 미치는 경로 두 곳에서 유의미한 차이가 발견되었다. 연구결과를 토대로 청소년의 인권의식을 함양을 위한 인권존중 환경 조성 및 인권교육을 위한 실천적 함의와 후속연구를 위한 과제를 제시하였다.
