젠더론과 여성스포츠 -올림픽경기 중심으로- = Gender Theory and Woman Sports - Focused on the Olympic Games -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

While in this study acknowledges the physical difference caused from biological difference between male and female, but it intended to verify the fact through analysis of Olympic games materials from the perspective of Gender Theory that only the same effort & energy is required in effort & value and self-conquest by spirituality and the gender has nothing to do with the difference that defines masculinity and femininity of male and female. In this study, it could be verified that the sports for female were initially performed providing limitations in accordance with respective type of sports in opening dimension while being kept in mind biological difference, but the opportunity of female participations have been expanded in connection with repetition of Olympic games from which a rapid growth could has been indicated in records and performance. This was heading toward the equality of male & female overcoming the recognition of gender difference on the basis of existing role of gender, and verified the fact no difference exists between male and female in terms of the human spirit of challenge by sports. Specially, the female sport that demonstrates outstanding physical knowledge in the Olympic games suit for such purpose. However, still there are many numbers of females in many parts of the world prohibited by force to have an access to sports getting sexual discrimination without receiving proper education. Now, the Olympic games should be a chapter to be able to promote female participation of sports overcoming religion and regional conflicts under the Olympism of equality and freedom, and those related officials in IOC or International sports organizations should lead actively to expand the base for female participation still being bind to the gender role. In conclusion, the reason to proceed for the development & expansion of female sports is to expect the realization of the truthful gender equality at Olympic games that provides opportunities to put effort to challenge the limit of human continuously.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 젠더론을 배경으로 스포츠에서 남녀의 생물학적인 신체적 차이는 인정하지만 정신성에 따른 노력과 가치 그리고 자기극복에서는 오로지 동등한 노력과 에너지를 필요로 하고, 남성다움과 여성다움을 규정하는 성차와는 아무런 차이가 없다는 사실을 젠더론적 관점에서 올림픽경기의 자료 분석을 통해 확인하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 초기 여성스포츠는 생물학적 차이를 염두에 두고 개방차원에서 각 종목에 따라 제한을 두고 행해졌으나 올림픽의 횟수가 거듭될수록 여성참가선수는 확대되었으며 기록 및 성과에서 빠른 성장속도를 나타내고 있었다. 이것은 기존의 성역할에 따른 성차인식을 뛰어넘는 남녀평등에로 향한 것이며 스포츠를 통한 인간의 도전정신에 남녀차이는 존재할 수 없다고 하는 사실을 증명하고 있다. 특히 올림픽경기에서 탁월한 신체지(知)를 발휘하는 여성스포츠는 양성평등의 목적에 부합된다. 그러나 아직도 세계 곳곳에는 교육받지 못하고 성차의 차별을 강요받으며 스포츠에 접근조차 할 수조차 없는 여성들이 존재하고 있다. 이제 올림픽경기는 올림피즘의 특징인 평등과 자유의 이념아래 종교와 지역갈등을 넘어, 여성들의 스포츠참여를 더욱 촉진시킬 수 있는 장이 되어야 할 것이며, IOC 및 국제스포츠 관계자들은 아직 성역할에 매인 여성들에게 스포츠참여를 위한 저변확대를 적극적으로 유도해야 할 것이다. 따라서 우리가 여성스포츠의 발전과 확대를 지향하고자 하는 것은 인간의 한계에 끊임없이 도전하도록 노력의 기회를 제공하는 올림픽경기에서 진정한 남녀평등의 실현을 기대할 수 있기 때문이다.
