      This study examines whether employment status and working hours affect individual happiness through job satisfaction by applying a recursive structural model which considers the recursive causal relationship between endogenous variables. As a result of the analysis, we find that one's job is an important part of an individual's life as job satisfaction affects happiness regardless of the model. The result also shows that the overall happiness of nonregular workers is lower compared to regular work because they are less satisfied with their jobs, which suggests the need for a policy to improve job satisfaction of non-regular workers. In terms of work hours, we find that the short-time work or overtime work leads to lower job satisfaction than regular work, but job satisfaction has no effect on mediating the relationship between working hours and happiness. However, there is a difference in the relationship between job satisfaction and happiness by household type; therefore, we recommend different policy strategies by household type. Based on the findings, this study suggests that labor market policy decisions should be made through policy analysis and evaluation considering indicators such as people's job satisfaction and happiness.
