접경지역의 지오투어리즘(Geotourism)과 지오빌리지네트워크(Geo-Villages Network)에 관한 연구 -강원도 철원군을 중심으로- = A Study on Geotourism and Geo-Villages Network of the Border Region in Gangwon Province

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The border region is special region designated by laws under special situations arising from nation’s division and is a backwater region lagging behind other regions. Security tourism, which is the most typical in tourism industry serving as a backbone of border region development, has been limited or controlled through direct or indirect effect of South-North Korean relationship, national security, policy change, etc. We examined the rural geotourism with a focus on geo-villages as a new solution for application of geotourism and restoration of community as sustainable alternative tourism. Moreover, we presented the need for linkage among rural villages, i.e., geo-villages network to promote stimulation of rural geotourism. Geo-villages network promotes cooperation on human and materials exchange among villages through geopark and geotourism which are common elements within different cultural boundaries, rather than simple exchange among villages. Furthermore, geo-villages network can lay groundwork for co-existence of geo-villages by helping sustain co-existential and co-prospering relationship, such as mutual promotion of education, culture, tourism commodities, attraction of tourist, etc., which is conducive to revitalizing local economy.
