독일교회의 “평화기도회”와 사회정치적 역할 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1990년 10월 3일 독일이 완전한 민족의 재통일을 확정하면서 한국은 이제 세계에서 유일한 민족 분단국가로 남게 되었다. 독일의 재통일 과정은 국가의 정책이나 탁월한 지도자의 역할과 세계적인 우호 증진에 의한 성취라고는 결코 말할 수 없다. 공산치하의 극단적인 위협과 어려운 상황 가운데서도 교회의 역할과 책임을 통감했던 구 동독 교회의 ‘평화기도’와 ‘평화묵상’ 운동만이 독일의 재통일의 유일한 원동력이었다.
작은 기도 모임과 묵상 모임으로 출발해서 시민 ‘평화혁명’으로 번지기까지 구 동독 교회는 민족의 열망인 평화의 세상을 위하여 하나님의 말씀 앞에 다시 결연히 섰다. 그리고 그 하나님의 말씀 앞에서 자신들이 이 시대의 하나님 말씀 전령자이요 세상을 향한 중보적 존재로 다시 한 번 확인하였다. 자신들의 중보적 사명을 재확인하면서, 구 동독 교회들은 희생과 폭력적인 억압까지도 의연하게 수용하며 주어진 현실 속에서 평화적 도구로서의 자신들의 정체성을(Theology and Praxis382 )
고백하며 지켜나갔다. 이러한 구 동독 교회와 목회자들의 인식이 독일의 민족재통일의 실현을 위한 기초가 되었다. 이러한 독일교회의 사회정치적인 역할과 책임에 대한 이해를 고찰함이 앞으로 민족의 재통일을 위한 구체적인 역할과 책임을 감당해야만 할 한국교회에 큰 격려가 될 것이며 나아갈 방향을 제시할 모델이 될 수 있기를 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Korea has remained the only divided nation in the world since Germany was reunified on Oct. 3, 1990. The process of reunification in Germany should not be regarded as a result of excellent national policies or outstanding political leadership. The reunification of Germany arose only due to the movements of “peace prayer” and “peace meditation” in the churches of East Germany, which had been under extreme threat, violence, and oppression by communism.
While small prayer or meditation meetings for peace were developing into the civil ‘peace revolution’, the churches in East Germany stood before God’s Word for the peaceful world that had been a national hope. Further, the churches reconfirmed that they were the intercessory prayers for the world as well as the deliverers of God’s word for this era. Identifying themselves as intercessory prayers and tools for peace, they dauntlessly accepted and endured the sufferings and the violent oppression from East Germany’s officials. Like this, the awakening of the ministries in East Germany became a basis for the realization of the reunification between East and West Germany. It is expected that to considerate the socio-political roles that East Germany’s churches showed would encourage the Korean Church to share the responsibility and role for the unification between North and South Korea, and would suggest an example of the direction of progress.
