인지문법의 의미구조 연구 = A Study on the Semantic Structure of Cognitive Grammar

Cognitive Grammar supposes that the meaning of an linguistic expression is equated with conceptualization and accepts a conceptualizer's subjective involvement in the process of conceptualizing. Subjective involvement means the subjective construal of an objective situation. Such a subjective construal may be possible by means of imaginery i.e. cognitive ability of construing an objective situation in alternative ways.
The construal of a objective situation is thought to be achieved by cooperation of various dimensions of imagery: focal adjustment, perspective, abstraction, transformation. These four categories may work in the process of the conceptualizer's construing an objective situation. This thesis claims that these very imagery may make a discrepancy between the meaning of an expression and the objective situation it refers to. Thus the meaning of an expression is conceptual content plus ways of construals.
