The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of the hand paddle and fin on stroke parameter, swim velocity and lactate concentration in elite swimmers up to ages. Forty-five male swimmers. They were assigned to one of the three groups: 1) elementary group(AGE-1, 12-13year), 2) adolescent group (AGE-2, 16-17year), and adult group (AGE-3, 20year). The groups swimming records, and stroke parameter and lactate concentration were measured by 50m swim with hand paddle and fin(full-gear) compared to those swimming without a hand paddle and fin(non-gear). The result of the swim record showed significant difference in swim velocity among all groups(p<.01). Lactate level was different as well(p<.01). The swimming velocity was significantly correlated stroke rate and stroke length in all groups. These results suggest that the ability to swim faster is with a swim paddle and fin. Also the effectiveness of hand paddle training increases the stroke rates during Front Crawl swimming without the paddle being used.
