장미꽃을 모티브로 한 헤어업스타일 디자인 개발

(Abstract)

A rapid change in social environment including the development in mass media brought about a change in lifestyle of modern women. Accordingly, a desire for decorating themselves and highlighting their beauty in modern women is getting higher than ever. Amidst the rapidly-changing information society, the women in modern times can swiftly come into information on trends at home and abroad. Diverse techniques available for realizing this were developed and supplied. Thus, a desire for decorating and expressing oneself came to be represented more positively.
As hair is a part of the body and is an important part, which forms the whole facial image, it functions as the decoration of completing the image. Hair design, which has this hair as medium, is one of beauty art, thereby demanding a balanced beauty and a harmonic beauty with the body. Also, hair design possesses the considerable importance in women's desire for pursuing beauty. It is being constantly required a research of new design, which can satisfy modern women's individual desire and longing.
From old times, nature has become an object of attention in artists and writers as the origin of providing a creative motif. Even out of nature, a flower is especially a material for which artists enjoy looking as the representative nature of symbolizing beauty. A human being comes to feel a desire for creation with being inspired by any image from nature and comes to make a creative work of art by expressing it based on own unique imagery. Among innumerable motifs of nature that are given to us, a flower functions as a good material available for a change in many forms and is also a vehicle available for creating another natural world.
This study devised a work by having a motif as a rose for which women prefer the most among flowers, and developed up style by modeling a direct and indirect form of a rose based on the components, principle and expression technique of up style, thereby having aimed to satisfy the aesthetic desire of customers, who want to be outstanding on a special day, and to be helpful for developing the creative and individual hair design.
A rose is becoming a material of art such as painting and sculpture from ancient times to modern times and is becoming a major theme in perfume, textile and design such as fashion design. It is said that ‘Bacchus Festival,’ which is the official carnival of the Romans who liked a rose the most in the history, was full of people who adorned themselves with a rose, that even soldiers needed to decorate themselves with a rose, and that there was also a holiday of commemorating the rose. A rose symbolizes love and beauty and has been used frequently as a material of a literary work, painting or art. It can be easily found even in bouquet(bunch of flowers), corsage, or boutonniere ornament. A rose has been a motif in fashion, perfume and accessory even until now, thereby being able to be considered to be closest to a human being among flowers.
Examining a dictionary definition of rose(薔薇), it is a bush flowering tree(花木) as a generic term of plants, which belong to a dicotyledonous plant rose and a bíddy-bìddy throat rose. The basic structure of rose is a pinnately compound leaf whose leaf is estranged and that is composed of 3∼7 small leaves. A small leaf includes oval, long oval, and long egg shape. A leaf tip is sharp. The base is stumpy. The hidden side is tinged with white. However, a young leaf is purple red. There is sawtooth on the edge. A stipule is thin and long. A leafstalk is attached to the lower section. The upper part is like a needle. A stem is mainly tinged with green and has thorn.
A rose variety is divided into hybrid tea(H.T) floribunda(Flo), LandscapeRoses(LA), Climbing(CL), and miniature(Min) system by genealogical classification.
This study had totally 6 sorts as motifs with 2 sorts in climbing system, and by 1 sort, respectively, in the remaining systems. In a plan for design, the characteristic rose variety was selected by considering ecology and sorts after conceiving of the design in the colorful and beautiful hair up style of rose. Components, color, texture, design principle, and expression technique were established in line with a theme after creating a design theme. In the development in design, it was expressed in making a work by developing an idea based on the formativeness along with the observation on motif, by mixing creative and originative ideas, by implementing a concept on creating design, and by applying up-style components and basic technique.
Work Ⅰ is up-style design that embodied Barkarole rose, which is a motif. Up style with the splendor and the passionate & strong image was created by emphasizing a big flower shape in the top point. The mystique of rose with being layered by overlapping the hair strands was expressed.
Work Ⅱ gave shape to a rose by having Goldschatz as a motif. Back point was stressed. A sense of stability was given that is available for maintaining a rhythmical sense and a balance by regularly applying the iterative principle with the same unit from the left side to the right nape corner.
Work Ⅲ is design that embodied a characteristic of cocktail rose in a series of a climbing rose. A rambling rose stem of being entangled on both sides was produced by primarily using the three-strand braiding method. As for a flower shape, a cute form in a climbing rose by putting texture with braiding was shown with 5 flower shapes.
Work Ⅳ is up style that had Leonardo da Vinci as a motif. Rhythm and directionality of a compound petal were expressed by applying the iterative principle from the forelock part to the top point. Flexibility and splendor were emphasized by allowing the wave of a curve to be continued.
Work Ⅴ is up-style design that gave shape to Lavender Meillandina rose, which is a motif. A rectangular form, which is lengthily continued by giving wave, was represented by embodying a stem. The mixed texture was harmoniously expressed by creating the smooth texture on the left side and the embossed texture on the right side. The expression of a flower was formed in order to feel a petal in a small form of the miniature system by using an artificial hair piece.
Work Ⅵ embodied pink Meidilland rose. An oval form, which seems to be lengthy, was presented by giving shape to a rose leaf in the nape point. The nape point was stressed by expressing a simple leaf of rose using an artificial hair piece.

This study completed a creative work by developing hair-up style design by having a rose as a motif. In the whole process of planning and completing design, a rose especially out of nature could be known to be selected as a material of diverse art fields due to containing the unique formativeness and harmonic beauty, and to constantly offer a creative motif owing to the infinite artistic value.
Also, the hair beauty field could be known to be expanding a sphere into one genre of art, which has a material as hair that is a part of the body, beyond the existing technical hair care. An attempt for developing design and creative work of having hair as a material is being developed even into the hair art field from the service business of managing hair, thereby making the art field richer by expanding the sphere of creation. The development in more creative and originative hair design is expected to be ceaselessly continued that can satisfy modern people's desire for beauty based on the creation of hair up style as a new art genre in this way.

매스미디어의 발달을 비롯한 급격한 사회 환경의 변화는 현대 여성들의 라이프 스타일에 변화를 가져 왔으며 이에 따라 현대 여성들에게는 자신을 꾸미고 자신의 아름다움을 부각시키고자 하는 욕망이 그 어느 때보다 높아지고 있다. 급격히 변화하는 정보화 사회 속에서, 현대의 여성들은 국내외 트렌드에 대한 정보를 신속히 접할 수 있으며 이를 실현시킬 수 있는 다양한 기술이 개발, 보급되어 자신을 꾸미고 표현하고자하는 욕구를 보다 적극적으로 표현하게 되었다.
헤어는 신체의 일부이자 얼굴 전체의 이미지를 구성하는 중요한 부분으로 이미지를 완성해 주는 장식의 기능을 한다. 이러한 헤어를 매개체로 하는 헤어디자인은 미용예술의 하나로 신체와의 균형미와 조화미를 요구한다. 또한 헤어디자인은 여성들의 아름다움을 추구하는 욕망에 있어 상당한 비중을 차지하며 현대 여성들의 개성 있는 욕구와 갈망을 채워줄 수 있는 새로운 디자인의 연구가 끊임없이 요구되고 있다.
예로부터 자연은 창의적인 모티브를 제공하는 근원으로서 예술가들과 작가들의 관심의 대상이 되어 왔으며 자연 중에서도 특히 꽃은 미를 상징하는 대표적인 자연으로 예술가들이 즐겨 찾는 소재이다. 인간은 자연으로부터 어떤 이미지에 영감을 받아 창작에 대한 욕구를 느끼게 되고, 그것을 자기만의 독특한 심상에 의해 표출하여 창조적인 예술 작품을 만들게 되는 것이다. 우리에게 주어지는 무수한 자연의 모티브들 중 꽃은 여러 가지 형의 변환이 가능한 좋은 소재로 활용되며 또 다른 자연 세계를 창출할 수 있는 매개체이기도 하다.
본 논문은 꽃 중에서 여성들이 가장 선호하는 장미꽃을 모티브로 하여 헤어업스타일 작품을 구상하였다. 헤어업스타일의 구성요소와 원리, 표현기법을 바탕으로 장미꽃의 직간접 형태를 조형화하여 업스타일을 개발함으로써 특별한 날 돋보이고 싶어 하는 고객의 미적 욕구를 충족시키고 창의적이면서도 개성적인 헤어 디자인 개발에 기여하고자 하였다.
장미꽃은 고대부터 현대까지 회화, 조각 등 예술의 소재가 되고 있으며 향수와 텍스타일, 패션디자인 등 디자인의 주요 테마가 되고 있다. 장미꽃은 사랑과 아름다움을 상징하며 문학 작품이나 회화와 예술의 소재로 빈번히 사용되어 왔으며 부케(꽃다발)나 코사지, 부토니아 장식 등에서도 쉽게 발견할 수 있다. 현재까지도 장미는 패션, 향수, 장신구 등의 모티브가 되고 있어 꽃 중에서 가장 인간에게 가장 밀접하다고 볼 수 있다.
장미(rose, 薔薇)의 사전적 의미를 살펴보면, 쌍떡잎식물 장미 목 장미과 장미 속에 속하는 식물의 총칭으로 관목성의 화목(花木)이다. 장미의 기복적인 구조는 잎은 어긋나고 3∼7개의 작은 잎으로 구성된 깃꼴겹잎이다. 작은 잎은 타원형, 긴 타원형, 긴 달걀 모양이며 잎 끝은 뾰족하고 기부는 뭉툭하다. 뒷면은 흰빛이 돌지만 어린잎은 홍자색이며, 가장자리에 예리한 톱니가 있다. 턱잎은 가늘고 길며, 하단부가 잎자루에 붙어 있으며, 윗부분은 바늘 같고, 줄기는 녹색을 주로 띠며 가시가 있다.
장미꽃의 품종에서 계통의 분류별로는 하이브리드 티(hybrid tea), 플로리분다(floribunda), 랜드스케이프계(LandscapeRoses), 클라이밍(Climbing), 미니어쳐(miniature) 계통으로 나누어진다.
본 논문은 하이브리드 티 1종, 플로분다 1종, 랜드스케이프 1종, 클라이밍 2종, 미니어쳐 1종으로 총 6종의 장미꽃을 헤어업스타일 디자인 개발을 위한 모티브로 선정하였다. 디자인 계획에서는 장미꽃의 생태와 종류를 고찰하여 특징적인 장미꽃 품종을 선정하였으며 구성요소, 컬러, 질감, 디자인 원리, 표현기법 등을 조사하였다. 이를 바탕으로 장미꽃의 화려하고 아름다운 형태를 재현한 헤어업스타일 디자인을 구상하였다. 장미꽃을 모티브로 한 헤어업스타일 디자인을 전개하기 위하여 모티브의 형태와 생태, 조형성 등을 관찰하였으며 이를 토대로 디자인 아이디어를 도출하였다. 이러한 아이디어를 바탕으로 창조적이고 독창적인 디자인을 기획하였으며 업스타일 구성요소와 표현기법 등을 활용하여 작품을 창작하였다.
작품Ⅰ은 모티브인 바카롤 장미꽃을 형상화 한 업스타일 디자인이다. 탑 포인트에 큰 꽃모양을 강조하여 화려함과 열정적이고 강렬한 이미지의 업스타일을 연출하였으며 모발가닥을 겹치기 하여 겹겹이 쌓여진 장미꽃의 신비로움을 표현하였다.
작품Ⅱ는 골드샤츠를 모티브로 하여 장미꽃 모양을 형상화하였다. 백 포인트를 강조하였고 왼쪽 사이드에서 오른쪽 네이프 코너까지 동일한 단위로 규칙적으로 반복 원리를 적용하여 율동감과 균형성을 유지할 수 있는 안정감을 주었다.
작품Ⅲ은 덩굴장미 계통, 칵테일 장미꽃의 특징을 형상화한 디자인이다. 세 가닥 땋기 기법을 주로 사용하여 양사이드에 얽혀진 덩굴장미줄기 모양을 연출하였고 꽃모양은 땋기 하여 질감을 넣어 덩굴장미의 아기자기한 형태를 5개의 꽃 모양으로 나타내었다.
작품Ⅳ는 레오나르도 다빈치를 모티브로 한 업스타일이다. 앞머리 부분에서 탑 포인트까지는 반복의 원리를 적용시켜 겹꽃잎의 율동성과 방향성을 표현하였고 곡선의 웨이브가 연속되도록 하여 유연함과 화려함을 강조하였다.
작품Ⅴ는 모티브인 라벤더 메이안디나 장미꽃을 형상화 한 업스타일 디자인이다. 줄기를 형상화하여 웨이브를 주어 길게 이어지는 장방형 형태를 표현하였고 왼쪽 사이드의 매끈한 질감과 오른쪽 사이드의 도드라진 질감을 연출하여 혼합된 질감을 조화롭게 표현하였다. 꽃의 표현은 인모피스를 사용하여 미니어쳐계의 작은형태의 꽃잎느낌이 나도록 구성하였다.
작품Ⅵ은 핑크 메이딜란드 장미꽃을 형상화 하였다. 네이프 포인트에 장미의 잎사귀를 형상화하여 길어져 보이는 타원형의 형태를 주었고 인모 피스를 사용하여 장미꽃의 홑꽃잎을 표현하여 네이프 포인트를 강조하였다.

본 논문은 장미꽃을 모티브로 한 헤어업스타일 디자인을 개발하여 창작 작품을 완성하였다. 디자인을 기획하고 완성하는 전 과정에서 자연 중에서 특히 장미꽃은 독보적인 조형성과 조화미를 내포하고 있어 다양한 예술 분야의 소재로 선택되고 있으며 무한한 예술적 가치로 인하여 끊임없는 창작 모티브를 제공하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
또한 헤어미용분야가 기존의 기술적인 모발 관리를 넘어, 인체의 일부인 헤어를 소재로 하는 예술의 한 장르로 영역을 확장하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 헤어를 소재로 한 디자인과 창작 작품 개발을 위한 시도는 모발을 관리하는 서비스업에서 헤어아트 분야까지 발전하고 있어, 창작의 영역을 확장하여 예술 분야를 더욱 풍성하게 만들고 있다. 이러한 새로운 예술 장르로서의 헤어업스타일 창작을 기반으로 현대인의 미에 대한 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있는 더 창의적이고 독창적인 헤어 디자인 개발이 끊임없이 지속되기를 기대한다.
