방언 지도 제작기(Map Maker)를 활용한 방언 지도 제작 = Creating Dialect Maps Using Map Maker

The computer technology has led to the improvement of the cartographic technique for a dialect map. Here, we introduce works which are related to processing of regional dialect data and creating maps using computerized technique. And we also demonstrate the usage and efficiency of our newly developed tool. The MAP MAKER, one of tools for creating dialect maps which are represented by symbol, has following characteristics. First, a user can make easily maps with the help of the graphic user interface. Second, it is easy to analyse and interpret the regional dialect data using the sort and computation function. Third, this tool includes the function to set up coordinates automatically. So, this greatly helps the user to create maps with various outline. We think that the MAP MAKER is the most advanced tool for creating dialect map. Furthermore, this could be used as a stepping stone to construct the more improved dialect map that uses the voice data or GIS.
