텍스트 이해의 전체성과 동일성 비판- 레비나스의 타자 개념을 토대로 - = Critical study on oriented of totality and sameness of text understanding - Based on Levinas’ other concept -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This discussion is to criticize the oriented of totality and sameness of text understanding from the viewpoint of Levinas’ other philosophy. And to explore the possibility of infinity orientation. The totality orientation of text understanding presupposes that the text contains an objective main idea. This objective main idea is found by text experts using rational thinking and scientific methods. The reader seeks to identify this objective main idea in the text. So all readers should share the objective main idea of the text. On the other hand, the oriented of sameness of text understanding seems to construct meaning by using background knowledge. The meaning that the reader composes is similarly repeated between texts as a function of background knowledge. So people think that it is necessary for the reader to construct individual subjective meanings. There is no consideration of the others in the totality orientation and sameness orientation of these text understanding. These oriented readers can not communicate with the text-other. The reader-self can aim for infinity when communicating with the text-other. This is because the text other implies infinite attributes. The reader-self can internalize the content of the other’s consciousness in the process of communicating with the text-other’s and change as a result. To this end, the reader should invite a text-other in his mind to exchange communication contents. This allows the reader to change the self and achieve the essential expectation of reading. It is necessary to specify the method so that the reader’s understanding of the text can be directed toward this infinity.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논의는 레비나스의 타자 철학 관점에서 독자의 텍스트 이해에 대한 전체성 지향과 동일성 지향을 비판하고, 무한성 지향의 가능성을 탐구하기 위한 것이다. 텍스트 이해의 전체성 지향은 텍스트에는 객관적 주제가 들어있다고 전제한다. 이 객관적 주제는 전문 가가 이성적 사고와 과학적인 방법을 활용하여 찾아낸다. 독자는 텍스트에서 이 객관적 주제를 확인하려고 한다. 그리고 독자는 텍스트의 객관적 주제를 다른 독자와 공유해야 한다고 생각한다. 한편 텍스트 이해의 동일성 지향은 독자는 배경지식을 활용하여 의미를 구성한다고 본다. 독자가 구성하는 의미는 배경지식의 작용으로 텍스트 간에 유사하게 반복된다. 그래서 독자는 개별적으로 주관적 의미를 구성해야 한다고 본다. 이들 텍스트 이해의 전체성 지향과 동일성 지향은 타자에 대한 고려가 없다. 이들 지향에서는 독자 자아가 텍스트 타자와 소통하지 않는다. 독자 자아는 텍스트 타자와 소통을 할때 무한성을 지향할 수 있다. 텍스트 타자가 무한적 속성을 함축하고 있기 때문이다.


독자 자아는 텍스트 타자와 소통하는 과정에서 타자의 의식내용을 내면화하고, 그 결과 로써 변화할 수 있다. 이를 위하여 독자는 마음속에 텍스트 타자를 초대하여 의식내용을 교환하는 소통 활동을 해야 한다. 이로써 독자는 자아를 변화시켜 읽기에 대한 본질적 기대를 성취하게 된다. 독자의 텍스트 이해가 이 무한성을 지향할 수 있도록 그 접근 방법을 구체화할 필요가 있다.
