「자유종」과 「은세계」 비교 = A Comparative Study of Jayujong and Eunsegea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Even though they have similar perspectives to receiving modernization, there are prominent differences between the new-style novelist Yi Haejo(1868-1926) and Yi Injik(1862-1916), in regard to the concrete strategies in modernizational process that they have got. Yi Haejo have written for the purpose of patriotic enlighening movement, but Yi Injik have written for the political purpose that is called the pro-Japanese. In this essay, these two novels which are Jayujong(in English Liberty) and Ensegea(in English Silver World), as known in exposure of political view, are analyzed and compared to the prominent differences which are realized in those two novels. Whereas the novel Ensegea have implied that the radical reformation without the support of people basis is to destiny of pro-Japanese, the novel Jayujong, as though Ensegea pusued those modernizational reform, have proposed a profound and far-reaching alternative, modern education which have sustained the cultural identity to confront to the western society, by Confucius refomation. The success or failure in Yi Haejo's literature is properly our's, and has become a basis of our literature. The essence of Jayujong have overcome the pressure of Japanese colonialism, and have been the basis of our literature.
