Maecheon Hwang Hyeon is one of the best poets in literary history. This assessment is mainly about his work of realistic tendency. It is difficult to discuss his life and literature without considering the age that he lived and the achievement of his keen awareness about reality. Of course the point of view is right. However, because of this approach, his lyric poem was not evaluated properly. This paper focuses on the nature poem that Maecheon leaved, especially about Gurye and Sumjin river`s scenery that he shared his life. Maecheon described the landscape of Honam and Gurye with warm heart by his poem. This is the expression of his pride of the place that he lived and his nation. Also, Maecheon thought nature is home of our life. He expressed the people with beautiful life in beautiful nature. So Maecheon`s nature poem images nature not only the hideout of people, but also the place of livelihood. This point is connected to the patriotism of his poem.
