As more and more e-portfolio are being used, the most critical issues facing educators include how to design and implement a e-portfolio to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of learning. For the reason, the intents of this study were (1) to design a methodology of e-portfolio based on literature reviews, (2) to implement the designed one in real education setting and to revise and reimplement repeatedly, and (3) to try to find out the principles of design and implementation of e-portfolio through the iterative process. This study incorporated a design-based research in two consecutive semester in Phase 1 and 2, respectively. In Phase 1, this study designed and implemented a teaching portfolio for pre-service teachers. The results of the Phase 1 indicated the lack of interaction and reflection. The results of inquiry and problems from the Phase 1 informed and shaped the design of Phased 2. In Phase 2, an e-portfolio was evolved into a more interactive and systematic approach through iterative process of revise and reimplementation. As the results of the iterative process, the researcher found that an e-portfolio needs intentional mechanisms for interaction, structure task, and some supports for instructors who manage the e-portfolio. This study proposes the development of a methodology for educators and researchers who are planning and developing e-portfolio, and/or already using e-portfolio.
