The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of music major university students' satisfaction on employment preparation behavior and to verify the mediating effect of self-efficacy in the relationship between satisfaction with the major and employment preparation behavior. The study was prompted by the fact that the employment rate of university students majoring in music was lower than that of students from other majors. The subjects of the study were 163 music major students at a university. Analysis was carried out using reliability analysis, factor analysis, frequency analysis, correlation analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, regression analysis, and Sobel verification on the SPSS 23.0 statistical program. The results of the study are as follows: First, it was confirmed that interpersonal satisfaction and perception satisfaction, the sub-factor of major satisfaction, had a significant positive effect on employment preparation behavior. Satisfaction with the major was confirmed to have 53.7% explanatory power in employment preparation behavior. Second, it was found that there was a partial mediating effect of self-efficacy in the effect of satisfaction with the major on employment preparation behavior. Therefore, the employment preparation behavior of music major university students was greatly influenced by satisfaction in the major, and hence it is necessary to strengthen educational programs that can increase this satisfaction in universities. In addition, it was found that the satisfaction of music major university students directly affects employment preparation behavior and has an indirect effect through self-efficacy. To promote satisfaction, it is necessary to provide students with education programs to strengthen their self-efficacy and career counseling services. It is believed that this study would provide the basic data for preparing practical intervention plans to improve the employment preparation behavior of music major university students.
